ABSTRACT:
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures resulting from abnormal neuronal activity. Conventional antiepileptic drugs, although effective, are associated with significant adverse effects and long-term toxicity.
This has led to growing interest in alternative therapeutic approaches such as Ayurveda. Sarasvata Churna, a classical polyherbal formulation, has been traditionally used for neurological disorders. The present review explores the pharmacological basis of Sarasvata Churna by analyzing its individual herbal components and their potential role in epilepsy management. The formulation exhibits multiple therapeutic properties, including antioxidant, neuroprotective, nootropic, and anticonvulsant effects.
