ABSTRACT:
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia resulting from impaired insulin secretion, insulin resistance, or both. Although several synthetic antidiabetic drugs are available, their long-term use may be associated with adverse effects, prompting the search for safer plant-based therapeutic alternatives.
Aim: The present investigation aimed to evaluate the antidiabetic efficacy of the methanolic leaf extract of Lagerstroemia parviflora Roxb. (MELP) in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic Wistar albino rats.
